Energy Bites Recipe
These energy balls are the perfect, tasty snack that also pass as a healthy dessert!
They're easy to make and don't require cooking or baking. I love a delicious, quick recipe that you can throw together in ten minutes. Just let them harden a bit in the fridge and soon you'll have a healthy snack.
What I love about these energy balls is that you actually do feel satiated after 1 or 2. That's because of all the superfoods (Chia Seeds, Oats, Pinole) from the Pinole Chia Oatmeal. You will feel energized and ready to take on whatever you need to do before your next meal. These protein balls are also packed with fiber!
Fans love our original flavor because it's packed with 10g of fiber, 8 grams of protein, Vegan & GF and oh-so-easy to customize with toppings!
So why do these energy bites pack so much nutrition? Pinole Chia Oatmeal! Our blend provides slow burning carbs for long-lasting energy, 10g of fiber per serving (for all 3 flavors), 8-14g of protein (depending on flavor) and prebiotics for a healthy gut microbiome.
What is Pinole?
Pinole is a ground corn superfood enjoyed all across Latin America. It dates back to the time of the Aztecs.
Today, it's still eaten by the Tarahumara, an indigenous community from Northern Mexico. Tarahumara runners are known for their long-distance running abilities and to fuel their long runs, the Rarámuri consume Pinole.
It’s made out of Non-GMO heirloom maize (or corn, as most know it). The dried maize is then ground and mixed with spices, such as cinnamon. Sometimes chia seeds or sweeteners, such as piloncillo (unrefined whole cane sugar) are added.
Our Pinole is harvested from independent, sustainable farms of Mexico. We then add chia seeds, oats and other powerhouse ingredients to make our delicious high protein/fiber Pinole Chia Oatmeal.
